Alex Smith, Josh Norman have Redskins up vs. Panthers at halftime

LANDOVER The hot-and-cold Redskins have stayed true to form, and this week, they’re playing well. Washington leads 17-6 at halftime Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
The Redskins forced three turnovers and quarterback Alex Smith has thrown for two touchdowns to help secure the lead.
Washington is without running back Chris Thompson (rib, knee) and wideout Jamison Crowder (ankle), but they have still been able to move the ball finishing the half with 169 yards of offense.
The Panthers have had their moments, though have committed costly mistakes. Even after Carolina scored on a seven-play, 75-yard drive, kicker Graham Gano missed the extra point.
Redskins cornerback Josh Norman has responded well to his benching in Monday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints grabbing an interception and forcing a fumble.
