Ohio State has placed coach Urban Meyer on paid administrative leave while it investigates claims that his wife knew about allegations of abuse against an assistant coach years before he was fired last week. Courtney Smith gave an interview to Stadium and provided text messages to former ESPN reporter Brett McMurphy between her and Shelley Meyer in 2015 and with the wives of other Buckeyes coaches. Smith also provided threatening texts she claims came from her ex-husband, former assistant Zach Smith. Zach Smith was fired last week after an Ohio court granted a domestic violence protective order to Courtney Smith. Offensive coordinator Ryan Day will serve as acting head coach for the Buckeyes.

The much-anticipated one-on-one showdown between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will take place over Thanksgiving at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, according to ESPN. The event will be either Friday, Nov. 23 or Saturday, Nov. 24 of Thanksgiving weekend. The purse is still being determined, but has been reported previously as a $10 million payout. Woods, 42, and Mickelson, 48, are competing in this week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational that begins today at Firestone. They have been rivals dating back to their days in Southern California junior golf, but their relationship has evolved over the decades.

Maurice Washington is headed to Nebraska. The Omaha World Herald reports that the four-star running back from NU’s 2018 recruiting class announced on Twitter yesterday he had been admitted to the University of Nebraska. Since his sophomore year of high school, Washington has had an uphill climb to academically qualify. He nearly quit football as a junior in California, moved to Texas to live with an aunt as a senior and was expelled midway through the second semester of his senior year at Trinity Christian School in Texas, where he helped a team win a state title. If Washington were immediately eligible, he’d be a factor in NU’s backfield. At The King’s Academy, Washington garnered national recruiting attention after running for more than 1,800 yards and 29 touchdowns in his sophomore year. He moved in with his aunt and transferred to Trinity Christian in Texas for his senior year. With Deion Sanders as his offensive coordinator, Washington ran for 1,253 yards and 10.2 yards per carry en route to a state title. He also played defensive back, linebacker, wide receiver and quarterback.

Foster made 41% of his three-pointers while his rebounding and assists also increased. He was a first-team All-Big East pick for the second straight season and an All-America honorable mention. Foster was also a finalist for the Jerry West Award for best shooting guard.

The Dallas Cowboys have activated defensive end Randy Gregory off the non-football injury list after a year away from football on a substance-abuse suspension. The former Nebraska Cornhusker has played in just two of the past 32 regular-season games because of multiple suspensions. Commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated Gregory not long before the Cowboys reported to training camp in California. Gregory participated in a walkthrough practice for the first time yesterday. The 25-year-old was banned for the first four games of 2016 before a ten-game suspension was announced while he served the first penalty. Gregory was suspended indefinitely after getting his first career sack in the final game of the 2016 regular season.
