The NSW Government has invited industry and researchers to apply to join its ICT advisory panel to support its development and implementation of a whole-of-government ICT strategy.

NSW Government seeks ICT advisers

Tender documents issued yesterday called for advisors with a “blend of research and business acumen” and who were “well positioned to advise government while avoiding conflict of interest”.

Advisors should also have an understanding of issues affecting the development of NSW’s ICT sector and an understanding of government ICT procurement practices, the documents stated.

The request for tender followed the State Government’s launch of an ICT Governance framework last month.

The NSW Department of Finance would select up to five Advisory Panel members from tender applicants, Parliamentary Secretary Matthew Mason-Cox confirmed today.

The size of the panel would keep it “manageable”, he said.

In accordance with the framework, the advisory panel would work alongside an ICT Board of agency directors-general and an ICT leadership group of agency chief information officers and executives.

Subsets of the advisory panel and leadership group would form time-limited working groups to support any strategic initiatives as required.

Expressions of interest were invited until 5pm on August 12.
