The Questionable Future of the Jaguar XJ

“We had a facelift with 2016, so it is approaching the end of its lifecycle. We’re looking at, you know, future opportunities of where that could possibly go,” said David Larsen, general manager of North American product management for Jaguar to Motor1.
When asked if there was a new XJ in the pipeline, Larsen said he could not "confirm or deny" anything relating to it.
The XJ has never been a big seller for Jaguar, nor made a real dent in the luxury flagship sales race. Last year, Jaguar only moved 3,834 XJs. This pales in comparison to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (18,803) and BMW 7-Series (12,918).
Jaguar could have decided to let XJ run its course and focus on models that can bring them sales such as crossovers. But for the time being, the fate of the XJ is in limbo.
